Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrates positive outcomes in patient care
I. Clinical Practice
1. Analyzes situations critically and makes clinical decisions which reflects an integration of nursing knowledge

1.1 Performs and completes assignments without supervision while providing consistent quality of care.

1.2 Performs specialized procedure specific to the assigned nursing unit.

1.3 Applies knowledge of medication administration.
D
1.4 Assess the status of the patient by collecting health data through patient interview, observation and consultations with family members and/or other interdisciplinary health team members. Develops/ modifies the patient plan of care using the nursing process.

1.5 Ability to alter priorities to meet patient and team needs. Capable of responding to change.

1.6 Completes written nursing assessment within the required time frame.

1.7 Identifies patient/family education needs and initiates instructions and/or utilizes appropriate resources. D
1.8 Conducts self in a calm, purposeful, and professional manner. Provides and accepts constructive criticism and responds appropriately.

1.9 Delegates activities to appropriate team members.

1.10 Performs other requested duties/tasks assigned by the Manager.

2. Attends at least two (2) job related inservices or programs.

2.1 Attends a minimum of 75% of staff meetings and/or reads minutes.

VI. Equipment/Resources
6. Demonstrates skill in use of equipment relevant to position, knowledge of appropriate safety procedures.
6.1 Diagnosis equipment problems, repairs or seeks out someone to repair.
6.2 Consistently inform appropriate person of problems encounter with repairs or calibration of equipment

Requirements

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.

Training/Experience: Successful candidate will be required to pass unit specific competencies for this position. CPR, and PALS within 12 months of hire.

Operation of Equipment: Olympus endoscopes, Olympus Videoscope System, Olympus Image Manager with EndoWorks software, Personal Computer, computer printer, copier and Fax machine, multi phone lines, Argon Beam Coagulator, Bovie and Bicap machines, Agilent Patient Care Monitoring System.
Steris machines and any equipment required for patient care in endoscopy unit.

Licenses: Current licensure in the Commonwealth of PA as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
