SESSIONS INCLUDE:

1. ASSESSMENT PAPER WORK; UNDERSTANDING DIABETES:
Assessment, Pre-test, Health Belief assessment, What is diabetes? Diabetes Myths, Types of diabetes, Types of Diabetes Treatments, Feeling about diabetes, Blood Glucose Testing, High and low blood sugar, Setting Goals  

2. DIABETES DIET MANAGEMENT:
The Food Pyramid, Carb Counting, & Meal Planning, Basic food groups, Weight control, Reading food labels, Learning about carbohydrates, Exercise & food adjustments, Dining Out  

3. MEDICATIONS, MONITORING, & DIABETES SELF CARE:  
Oral diabetes medications, Use of insulin, Responsibilities of diabetes self-care, Using Blood sugar testing results, Exercise, Sick Days, Short-term Complications   

4. DIABETES COMPLICATIONS:
Long-Term Complications, Sexuality, Pregnancy Stress Control, Making Changes, Vacations, Physician Office Visits, Practice Scenarios   Class fees will be billed to your health insurance plan.
