Surgical Services Services

SURGICAL SERVICES

At Lancaster Regional Medical Center, we offer a variety of services including General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Urological Surgery, Orthopaedic, Neurologic, Gynecologic, and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Your surgeon’s office will schedule your procedure with the hospital.

If preoperative testing is required, you will receive a phone call from “One-Call Scheduling” to arrange a visit with the Preadmission Nurse Specialist. A Preadmission Nurse Specialist will assist you in getting the necessary testing and assessments ordered by your physician. You will then be informed of all expectations regarding time of arrival, pre surgery prep, and post procedure education.

If testing has already been completed or is not required, the Preadmission Nurse Specialist will contact you by phone.

On the day of the procedure, you will report to the Registration Desk in the Day Hospital for proper identification, and final registration. A nurse will then prepare you for your procedure. In accordance with the National Patient Safety Goals, the nurse will ask you to state your name, date of birth, the procedure and name of your surgeon.

Once identified and prepared for the procedure, you will be transported to the preoperative Holding Area.  In the Holding Area, you will meet the registered nurse who will be with you during your procedure and your anesthesia provider. After the surgeon marks the site of your procedure and confirms your health history,  you will be escorted to the Operating Room Suite.

Immediately after the procedure, you will be transferred to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.  In this area, your pain will be managed and you will be monitored to assure safe recovery from the Anesthesia medications. If you are scheduled to be discharged home, you will be returned to the Day Hospital area for final instructions and discharge. If you are to be admitted to the Hospital, you will be assigned a room and transferred to the appropriate area once your condition is stable.

It is our goal to provide individualized, safe, and professional care. We look forward to serving you and thank you for choosing Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
